One of the first watches powered by Android Wear to work with Android & iPhone. The Huawei W1 is easy to connect to your smartphone, often it can be done via Bluetooth for your convenience. First, if you download the Android Wear app from Google Play first. This allows you to configure and test some of the notification features and download more apps for your phone. There are a couple of fitness apps that come as standard installed on the watch, the Huawei fitness app is preferable to the Android Fit one (but this is all personal preference). The heart rate monitor, accelerometer (pedometer) and barometer work well, some people have had problems with the heart rate monitor. You can get notifications from most of your usual communication and social apps: Nine (e-mail), Facebook, Whatsapp, Messenger, SMS/Text, Calendar+, etc. They’re made easy to view and in some cases respond to via the watch with Google speech-to-text (which has an extremely good accuracy rate). Two stand out apps that make the phone an even greater pleasure to use are:
– Sleep for Android: This tracks your heart rate and sleep as well as snoring/talking. It provides advice on getting better sleep and also suggests a suitable bedtime.
– Pujie Black: This app allows you to create and configure watch faces with additional features such as controlling the music player, calendar, weather and steps (pedometer).
There is a wide range of apps available, though some of the best Apps include:
-Feel The Wear
-Find My Phone
-Wear Audio Recorder Etc…
Requires a phone running Android 4.3+ or iOS 8.2+. Visit g.co/WearCheck on your phone to see if it’s compatible.
Battery life on the Huawei is pretty good, at the end of the day with Ambient mode enabled (screen always on) You can still have up to 50% battery charge, and while a whole 2 days might be pushing it; 1 and half days should be easily reachable. We’d still recommend charging every night alongside your smartphone (be it Android or IOS). The watch sits on a small magnetic puk with pins which is hassle free; just make sure the pins line up! 1.5 days battery life should be sufficient enough to keep you connected for longer. Your watch has the ability to fast charge your battery to 80% capacity in just 45 minutes. The always-on screen feature allows you to look down to see important details without touching your watch, such as the watch face, turn by turn navigation instruction, etc. The display is always visible at a glance. The battery of the Huawei W1’s battery life keeps you connected for longer.
The Huawei W1 comes with Fitness Tracking and a Heart Rate Monitor. The Watch makes keeping active and reaching your goals effortless. It goes wherever you go, offering a smart perspective on your fitness. A high-accuracy motion sensor keeps track of your activity and knows when you’re walking, running or climbing. Huawei has decided to have a go at the fitness front itself, with the Watch pre-installed with the Daily Tracking app. Once you enter your personal details it keeps score of your steps, calories burned and the number of times you stand up during a day (very similar to the Apple Watch). You can set all your own goals at the start of the week and the Watch is so intelligent it knows whether you are walking, running or driving.
