The Digital Crown on the Apple Watch Sport visually resembles the analogue winding mechanism on old school mechanical watches, but its core function is to help you swipe through app icons on the retina display, while the side button gives you an easy access to your preferred contacts.

The difference between the 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch is purely down to the size. It all depends on what size of watch you want on your wrist. In addition, this unisex watch helps you exercise and work out in style with its sleek space grey aluminium case and black sport band.

Below is a list of Apple Watch features, there is a treasure trove of Apple Watch cool features available:

  • Messages/Calendar/Mail
Camera Remote
  • Siri/Glances
  • Maps
  • Apple Pay
  • Lost Phone

Starting with Messages – Messaging your friends and family is a breeze with the Apple Watch. The texting response options are excellent; you get “Yes,” “No,” and “Maybe” ,”Talk later?” “Sorry, I can’t talk right now,” “Ok,” and “Thanks”. A reply for every eventuality. You can even create your own to upload through the app included on your iPhone device. Furthermore, the speech recognition is great if you want to send a message on the move. You can scroll through the message on the watch to get the whole picture. The Calendar really gives you the edge needed to keep up with all my appointments. The push notifications and haptic (vibrations) work in perfect harmony to advise. Mail – In a very similar way to the messaging function. Via push notifications and haptic. You will never miss an important email from a client or family member. It even gives you options to: ‘dismiss’, ‘archive’ or ‘read the whole (text only) email’

Phone – Great for driving or whilst on the move. It might make you feel like a spy talking into your wrist. You don’t have to have your phone immediately on your person at all times; you can leave it in the other room to charge or deep in the depths of your purse without fear of missing a call or text.

Camera Remote – A very popular ability for the watch is to use it as a remote for the iPhone camera. In the age of the selfie, it enables you to now be included in group photos or awkward angle photos. No one has to be missing from the photo anymore.

Two core features of the Apple Watch Series 1 designed to make your life so much simpler and stress-free. Siri (as already discovered on any Apple Phone) can be accessed the same way as it is via your phone. Simply holding down the digital crown (home button) will give you access to Siri. Then make your verbal request and your watch assistant is at your command. You can use Siri via your watch to complete actions on your phone. Very useful.  Speaking of useful… Glances allow you to see everything going on with your digital life. You get summaries of all the important things going on, control of your music, battery levels, your GPS location and more. All you need to do is flick up on the watch face. From there swipe left and right for the different ‘glances’. You can select the glances that you get on your watch.

Gentle taps let you know when it’s time to turn left or right, so you don’t need to look at your watch for the next step. Check out our blog post on how to set yourself up on Maps…

Tying into the calendar feature, You can ask Siri to remind you of your to‑dos. Tap Completed when you’re done with a task, or Snooze for a nudge later on. With certain watch faces, you can view your reminders at a glance…

Apple Pay
Just double-click the side button to securely pay in shops or within apps right from your watch. Double click the side button to launch Apple Pay, and once you’ve authenticated yourself once with your iPhone you press your Watch against the payment terminal (like contactless payment with a card). As long as you don’t take your watch off, it stays authenticated all day. An extremely sturdy security feature to prevent your Apple Pay/Bank account being abused.

Lost Phone
Available from the “Glances” Menu. If you have misplaced your phone in your house, office or gym… Press the “Find My Phone” Button. It sends out a loud ringing noise and buzz. You may need to keep pressing it until you hone in on the location. But it is very helpful if it falls down the sofa or is is a coat pocket etc…

The Apple Watch has apps a plenty. It can tell you everything from the basics like the date and time, it has a full calendar which reminds you of events, you can check your messages and send messages using Siri. You can change songs playing on your phone, update your Twitter status, and even pay for things using Apple Pay. It can even elaborate further and let you know things like, if your favourite team is winning the game or what the best recipe is for a Spaghetti Bolognese…

If it is Purchased primarily for the fitness features. There are still multiple ways the watch can enhance your iPhone.

Some people may wish the apps had a little more to them, than basically just push platforms so you can get your notifications. However, at this early stage, the watch and its software platform is developing constantly. So the App base can only get better from here. How long is the Apple Watch 42mm Sport battery life? Answer-  It’s a good 18 hours obviously depending on configuration and usage (as standard). It is relatively similar to many of the smartphones out there on the market. Battery life is something that is more than likely being looked into as a way of developing the watch.

There is a Battery Reserve mode which brings the functionality of the watch down to purely telling the time. Minus the extra features like app use and push notifications.

The Apple Watch 42mm Sport ‘s core fitness application is the ‘Activity’ tracker. The 3 main components that this measures daily is your: Calories burned, Amount of Minutes you have exercised and finally your standing time. Additionally, it does have a heart rate monitor , counts distance traveled, steps taken and is generally perfectly for all activities. Even sending notifications to keep you focused towards your targets (which you set weekly).

Using the activity tracker to track workouts is simple and intuitive. It comes with the standard Apple functionality and improved fitness tracking capabilities (If it could be worn 24 hours a day it could be comparable to the Fitbit range). The on-screen notifications are second to none and are vital to keeping you towards your goals.

You can even download additional fitness Apps including Strava , Nike+ Running, Endomondo, Sworkit, Map My Run, Runkeeper, Record by Under Armor etc… They are all outstanding stand-alone apps to help keep you focussed on your fitness regime.
