Huawei W1 Classic Smartwatch Review
The Huawei W1 Classic Smartwatch boasts classic Swiss design meeting smart technology to create an enduring timepiece. Available in the most popular watch size, 42mm diameter. It is one watch that can have so many different looks (Including 40+ watch faces at your fingertips). The watch looks like your ordinary wrist watch. Its round face and simple design, albeit quite a decent size (although less than those like Bulova or Tag Heuer) with it’s 1.4″ (3.5 cm) crystal display. The display is clear and bright, with a high-resolution AMOLED display. This means it’s easy to clearly read even the smallest of texts, great if your eyesight isn’t what it used to be. There’s almost a timeless elegance to it which the other SmartWatches on the market seem to lack. It is the World’s first Android Wear smartwatch with Sapphire Crystal screen combining stylish Cold-Forged 316L Stainless Steel and Fine Leather straps. All of which are totally customisable…
One of the standout design features is the Always-On Screen Mode. Utilising the AMOLED technology meaning you can enjoy ambient mode without rinsing your watch of battery but maintaining high-quality screen views.
As far as the Software Watch Face Design goes, as mentioned earlier the Huawei W1 Watch lets you build a bespoke timepiece that expresses your individual look. Choose from a range of premium casings and fine leather or stainless steel straps. Once you have your perfect watch, you can dress it for every occasion with a variety of bespoke watch faces to choose from.
Personally, we like the look of the silver Mesh Milanese band . It also allows far greater control over strap tightness than a traditional leather strap and doesn’t trap any hairs like a regular metal link band. Plus it gives a premium feel to the watch. On the underside of the strap, it has fabric which prevents the wrist from getting sweaty. It is easy to get hold of a replacement strap, as there is good support from third-party accessory makers. Furthermore, the strap design truly adds a further premium feel to the watch.
Here are the highlights of the design :
– Scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal
– Cold-forged 316L
– Stainless Steel Casing
– High-definition 1.4” AMOLED Display
– Fine Leather and Stainless Steel Straps
The Huawei smartwatch integrates health and fitness data, voice interaction, and call and message notifications into one smart watch. This stylish watch has been designed for business people, gadget fans, and people that want to monitor their health and fitness in style.
Most smart watches we have looked at have crowns that control some features – e.g. Scrolling etc… The Huawei W1 Smartwatch one doesn’t. All of the functionality (With the exception of the on/off) is controlled on the screen meaning the button being on the ‘wrist side’ of the watch isn’t an issue.

The Huawei’s Siri Equivalent. Google Now becomes your personal assistant and boosts your efficiency.
One of the first watches powered by Android Wear to work with Android & iPhone. The Huawei W1 is easy to connect to your smartphone, often it can be done via Bluetooth for your convenience. First, if you download the Android Wear app from Google Play first. This allows you to configure and test some of the notification features and download more apps for your phone. There are a couple of fitness apps that come as standard installed on the watch, the Huawei fitness app is preferable to the Android Fit one (but this is all personal preference). The heart rate monitor, accelerometer (pedometer) and barometer work well, some people have had problems with the heart rate monitor. You can get notifications from most of your usual communication and social apps: Nine (e-mail), Facebook, Whatsapp, Messenger, SMS/Text, Calendar+, etc. They’re made easy to view and in some cases respond to via the watch with Google speech-to-text (which has an extremely good accuracy rate). Two stand out apps that make the phone an even greater pleasure to use are:
– Sleep for Android: This tracks your heart rate and sleep as well as snoring/talking. It provides advice on getting better sleep and also suggests a suitable bedtime.
– Pujie Black: This app allows you to create and configure watch faces with additional features such as controlling the music player, calendar, weather and steps (pedometer).
There is a wide range of apps available, though some of the best Apps include:
-Feel The Wear
-Find My Phone
-Wear Audio Recorder Etc…
Requires a phone running Android 4.3+ or iOS 8.2+. Visit g.co/WearCheck on your phone to see if it’s compatible.
Battery life on the Huawei is pretty good, at the end of the day with Ambient mode enabled (screen always on) You can still have up to 50% battery charge, and while a whole 2 days might be pushing it; 1 and half days should be easily reachable. We’d still recommend charging every night alongside your smartphone (be it Android or IOS). The watch sits on a small magnetic puk with pins which is hassle free; just make sure the pins line up! 1.5 days battery life should be sufficient enough to keep you connected for longer. Your watch has the ability to fast charge your battery to 80% capacity in just 45 minutes. The always-on screen feature allows you to look down to see important details without touching your watch, such as the watch face, turn by turn navigation instruction, etc. The display is always visible at a glance. The battery of the Huawei W1’s battery life keeps you connected for longer.
The Huawei W1 comes with Fitness Tracking and a Heart Rate Monitor. The Watch makes keeping active and reaching your goals effortless. It goes wherever you go, offering a smart perspective on your fitness. A high-accuracy motion sensor keeps track of your activity and knows when you’re walking, running or climbing. Huawei has decided to have a go at the fitness front itself, with the Watch pre-installed with the Daily Tracking app. Once you enter your personal details it keeps score of your steps, calories burned and the number of times you stand up during a day (very similar to the Apple Watch). You can set all your own goals at the start of the week and the Watch is so intelligent it knows whether you are walking, running or driving.
